To find our Product Rating Snippet, login to your REVIEWS.io account and head to Publishing >> Widget Library >> Product Rating Snippet
Instructions ⚙️
You'll first be presented with the following page 👇
Select 'General Settings' from the menu bar.
Define your Language, Theme and Platform that you are looking to install the rating snippet onto. Additionally, you can configure options like Anchor to Reviews Widget in supported platforms to enhance user navigation and engagement.
Note: Selecting a platform will output widget code that is optimised for your site so you can simply copy and paste the generated code into your template. Otherwise, you'll need to replace certain sections with the variables in your platform.
Once you have done so, you can edit the star colour under the Edit Design subheader in your menu 👇
Once satisfied with your design, select 'Get Installation Code'. You can install this widget on your website by copying & pasting the Javascript to your Website's footer, and then adding the <div> onto your Product page.

Configuring Star Ratings to Redirect to Reviews Widget ⭐️
This guide will help you configure star ratings in your Shopify store so that they redirect customers to the reviews widget on the product page. To do this, follow the steps below 👇:
Access the Shopify Theme Editor:
Log in to your Shopify admin account.
Go to Online Store and select Customize.
Locate the App Embeds Settings:
Navigate to App embeds within the theme editor.
Look for the Rating Snippet option in the list of available app embeds.
Update the Rating Snippet Settings:
Disable the Show Popup option.
Save your changes.
Verify the Behavior:
Preview your product page and confirm the star ratings redirect customers to the reviews widget. 🎯
Troubleshooting: Stars Not ShowingIf you have installed the Rating Snippet but the stars are not visible on your product pages, here are the most common causes and how to fix them.
Common reasonsNo reviews yet
The snippet only displays once a product has at least one review. This is expected behavior to avoid showing empty ratings.Core Snippet not enabled
The Core Snippet (in App embeds) must be active for any snippet to work.Incorrect Store ID
The Core Snippet must use your actual Store ID, not a placeholder like "REVIEWS.io".Caching delays
Changes can take up to one hour to appear on your live site.Solution: Show empty stars
If you are testing your setup before receiving your first review, you can enable placeholder stars.
Steps:Go to your Shopify admin
Navigate to Online Store and click Customize
Open App embeds in the left sidebar
Select Rating Snippet to expand settings
Toggle "Show Empty Stars For No Reviews" to ON
Click Save
You will now see placeholder stars (5 stars) on products with no reviews. Once a review is collected, the actual rating will display automatically.
Quick checklistMake sure the following are set up correctly:
Rating Snippet is enabled in App embeds
Rating Snippet block is added to your product page template
Core Snippet is enabled with the correct Store ID
You have allowed time for caching (up to one hour)
For testing, Show Empty Stars For No Reviews is enabled
