Setting up and troubleshooting your Google integration

How to connect REVIEWS.io to Google Seller Ratings, Google Shopping Stars, and Google Business Profile — setup steps and common connection failures.

Written by Leila Fatehi

REVIEWS.io is a Google-licensed review partner and can send your reviews to three distinct Google products. Each one has a separate setup path and eligibility requirement. This article covers how to connect each one and what to check if the connection isn't working.

Already connected but reviews aren't showing? See Google Seller Ratings and Shopping Stars — why they're not showing for indexing delays and eligibility checks.

Google Seller Ratings — setup

Google Seller Ratings are enabled automatically once you meet the eligibility requirements — there is no manual connection step in your REVIEWS.io dashboard. REVIEWS.io submits your review feed to Google on your behalf as a licensed partner.

Eligibility requirements:

  • At least 100 verified company reviews per country, collected within the last 12 months

  • Reviews must be collected via invitation — profile page reviews are not eligible

  • Start-Up plan or above

Once eligible, Google takes 2–4 weeks to index your feed and begin showing stars. You can check whether Google has your ratings indexed at: google.com/shopping/ratings/account/lookup — enter your domain to see your indexed status.

Common setup issues — Google Seller Ratings

Issue

Cause

Fix

Domain not found in Google's lookup tool

Feed not yet indexed, or eligibility not yet met

Check review count and collection method; allow up to 4 weeks after reaching 100 verified reviews

Stars showing inconsistently in Ads

Google controls when stars are shown — varies by keyword, time of day, and search volume

Test from a different browser or device; this cannot be forced on REVIEWS.io's side

Review count appears lower than expected

Google only counts verified, invitation-collected reviews from the last 12 months — profile page reviews are excluded

Use Review Booster to send invitations and grow your eligible review count

Google Shopping Stars — setup

Google Shopping Stars require a connection between your REVIEWS.io product review feed and your Google Merchant Centre account. REVIEWS.io submits the feed automatically — but your Merchant Centre must be correctly configured to receive it.

To enable Google Shopping Stars:

  1. Ensure you are on the Start-Up plan or above.

  2. Confirm you have at least 50 product reviews in REVIEWS.io, with at least 3 reviews on a single product.

  3. Make sure your products have valid GTINs or MPN+Brand identifiers — these must match between your REVIEWS.io product catalogue and your Google Merchant Centre product feed.

  4. In your Google Merchant Centre account, confirm that the Product Ratings programme is enabled. Go to Growth → Manage programmes and enable Product Ratings if it is not already active.

  5. REVIEWS.io will automatically submit your product review feed to Google once eligibility is met. No manual feed submission is needed.

Common setup issues — Google Shopping Stars

Cause

Fix

Stars not appearing after 4 weeks

Product Ratings programme not enabled in Merchant Centre, or product identifiers don't match

Check Product Ratings is active in Merchant Centre; verify GTINs or MPN+Brand match between your two feeds

Stars showing on some products but not others

Individual products don't yet have 3 reviews, or their identifiers don't match

Check the product in your REVIEWS.io catalogue — confirm its GTIN/MPN matches your Merchant Centre listing exactly

Merchant Centre shows a feed error

Missing or mismatched product identifiers in the review feed

Contact REVIEWS.io support via live chat with a screenshot of the Merchant Centre error — the support team can inspect your feed directly

Google Business Profile — setup

Google Business Profile integration syncs your REVIEWS.io company reviews to your Google Maps and Search listing. To enable it:

  1. In your REVIEWS.io dashboard, go to Reputation

  2. Find Google Business Profile and click Connect.

  3. Sign in with the Google account that manages your Google Business Profile.

  4. Grant the requested permissions.

  5. Select the Business Profile location to sync reviews to.

  6. Save the connection.

Once connected, new reviews will sync to your profile within 24–48 hours.

Common setup issues — Google Business Profile

Issue

Cause

Fix

Can't find the Google Business Profile option in Integrations

Your plan may not include this integration

Contact support via live chat to confirm whether your plan includes Google Business Profile integration

Connection fails or returns a permissions error

The Google account used doesn't have Owner or Manager access to the Business Profile

Sign in with a Google account that has Owner or Manager role on the profile. Check access at business.google.com

Reviews stopped syncing after working previously

Google token expired or permissions were revoked

Reconnect the integration: go to Reputation, disconnect Google Business Profile, then reconnect using the steps above

Profile flagged or reviews removed by Google

Google's spam filters triggered — usually by a volume spike or policy issue

Pause the sync, remove non-compliant reviews, and wait 7–14 days before re-enabling

When to contact support

Contact the support team via live chat from your REVIEWS.io dashboard if:

  • You have met all eligibility requirements but stars are still not showing after 4 weeks

  • Your Google Merchant Centre is showing a feed error you can't resolve

  • Your Google Business Profile integration is not available in your dashboard

  • Reviews synced to Google are appearing incorrectly or on the wrong listing

To help the team investigate, have your domain, plan name, and a description of the issue ready. For Merchant Centre errors, a screenshot of the error message will speed up the investigation.
