Publish all your reviews - our recommendation
We encourage you to publish all of your genuine reviews, both positive and negative. A mix of honest feedback is what builds shopper trust, and removing or delaying reviews based on their star rating is exactly what fair-review regulations are designed to prevent. Our auto-publish rules are built to align with that guidance.
You can choose to publish all reviews right away (recommended) or publish only reviews with a minimum star rating.
If you choose to raise the minimum star rating above 1 star, you're responsible for publishing the valid reviews that fall below it within a 14-day window. After 14 days, any you haven't published are published automatically on your storefront.
Set your minimum star rating
By default, your minimum star rating is 1 star, so every verified review publishes as soon as it's collected. To change it:
Go to Publishing > Publishing options > Widget content
Under Auto-publish reviews rated at least, choose your minimum star rating.
Select Update Widget Settings to save.
Keep in mind:
Reviews at or above your minimum publish immediately; reviews below it are set to Pending publication.
Changing your threshold applies to new reviews only - reviews already pending stay on their original schedule.
You can turn this setting off any time. Any reviews currently pending are published immediately, and new reviews go live as soon as they're verified.
Reviews awaiting publication
Any review set to Pending publication is published automatically 14 days after it was submitted, whether or not you take action. Within that window, you can publish a review early, or report it if it breaks our review policy.
Pending reviews appear in your Timeline alongside your other reviews. Filter by Pending publication to see them sorted by how soon they'll auto-publish (most urgent first).
Open a review to:
Publish - make the review live immediately.
Reply or reach out - respond publicly or contact the customer (for example, to resolve their issue or request a revision) before it publishes.
Flag for moderation - if the review breaches our review policy, submit it to our team with a reason. The review stays pending and continues toward its publication deadline; it is only removed if our team approves the request.
What your shoppers see
How customers leave reviews doesn't change.
Your storefront star rating and review count include pending reviews from the moment they're submitted, so your score always reflects your genuine reviews. A pending review's content (its text, photos, and video) stays hidden until it's published; in the meantime, only its star rating counts toward the aggregate.
Reporting a review
Setting a minimum star rating doesn't change what's eligible for removal. You should only report reviews that are genuinely illegitimate - for example, fake, spam, off-topic, abusive, or containing private or sensitive information. Honest negative reviews from real customers are not eligible for removal and will be published. For guidance on handling difficult reviews, see Managing Negative Reviews.
