We want REVIEWS.io to stay a place where reviews are genuine, and businesses compete fairly. To keep it that way, some uses of the platform aren't permitted. This page explains our policies and what happens if a customer violates those.
This is a summary to help you stay on the right side of the rules. The full details are in our Terms & Conditions, Fake Review Policy and High-Risk Industries list. Where this page and those documents differ, those documents apply.
What's allowed
Collecting reviews from your own genuine customers about products or services they actually bought or used.
Sending review invitations to real customers through our tools.
Responding to reviews and asking a reviewer to revise a review once you've resolved their issue, through our moderation process.
Displaying your reviews on your own site while your subscription is active.
What isn't allowed
These are the main things that put an account at risk. The full list is in section 2.1 and 3.4 of the Terms.
Fake or misleading reviews. Writing, buying, incentivising or soliciting reviews that don't reflect a real customer's genuine experience. This is covered by our Fake Review Policy, which is unlawful and is treated seriously.
Illegal or prohibited sales. Using the platform in connection with unlawful goods or services, stolen property, or anything that infringes someone else's intellectual property or privacy rights.
Misusing personal data. Processing personal data you don't have the right to process, or handling regulated data (such as health or financial data) improperly. Registering with throwaway or disposable email addresses also isn't allowed.
Abusive or deceptive conduct. Defamatory content, harassment, discriminatory or obscene content; misleading advertising; or attempts to game, reverse-engineer, or tamper with the platform.
Accessing other accounts or disrupting the service. Trying to access another customer's data, or interfering with the platform's operation or security.

If you operate in one of these areas and aren't sure whether you can use Reviews, contact us before signing up.
What happens if an account breaks the rules
We aim to be fair and consistent. What happens depends on the type of breach.
Serious breaches — such as fake reviews, illegal activity, fraud, data misuse, or operating in a prohibited high-risk industry — can lead to immediate termination without notice. For these, the Terms allow us to close the account immediately, without a warning or a chance to "fix it" first (section 9.2). We'll email you to explain what's happened and why, and you can exercise your data rights or challenge the decision after the fact.
Fixable breaches — where something can be put right — come with written notice and 10 business days to resolve it (section 9.2). Sort it out in that time and the account carries on as normal.
Closure without fault. We can also close any account with 30 days' notice, as set out in the Terms.
In every case we'll contact you using the email address on your account, explain what's happening, and tell you the date any action takes effect.
Getting your data
We don't export your data automatically when an account closes. If you want a copy, just ask — reply to any notice we send, or contact support, and we'll help. For most closures, you'll have until the deadline in your notice. Where an account has been terminated immediately for a serious breach, you can still make a data-rights request after the fact, and we'll handle it in line with local data protection law.
We'd always recommend downloading anything you want to keep regularly, because data may be deleted afterwards and no longer available.
Reviews that have already been published may stay visible after your subscription ends, in line with section 9.3 of the Terms.
Think we've made a mistake?
If your account has been actioned and you believe it's an error, reply to the email we sent or contact our support team via live chat. Tell us your account details and why, and we'll review it.
