Changing your domain or moving reviews between stores

What to do when your store moves to a new domain or rebrands, what happens to your reviews and widgets, and how to show reviews across more than one store.

If your store has moved to a new domain or been rebranded, or you run more than one store, this guide explains what you can do yourself, what needs our support team, and what happens to your reviews.

Changing your account's domain

Only one domain can be linked to your account at a time. Before you request the change, make sure your old domain is closed or redirected.

Domain and account URL changes can't be made from your dashboard. Contact support via Live Chat and include your company name and the new domain.

Changing your domain? Your reviews, widgets, and invitations are tied to your current domain. Contact support as soon as possible after a rebrand so nothing breaks.

Moving your reviews to the new domain after a rebrand

To transfer reviews to a new domain after a rebrand, contact support via Live Chat with your old and new domain, plus confirmation that the old domain has been closed or redirected.

If any reviews mention your old company name or domain, please contact support so we can moderate them.

Do I need to update my widgets?

You only need to update your widgets and URLs if your store ID has changed as part of the update or rebrand. If your store ID stays the same, no widget updates are required.

If your store ID has changed, update all manually installed widget code to use the new domain, including the Store ID. Update your widget configurations first, then the Core Snippet or App Embed, to keep downtime to a minimum.

Running more than one store or domain

If you operate websites on different domains, you need a separate REVIEWS.io account for each domain. The accounts aren't connected unless the products share the same SKU across the sites.

For subdomains, one account can cover both when the second site is a subdomain of the main site (for example, b2b.example.com under example.com). This will need the Plus plan. If the second site is on a separate domain, it needs its own account.

Can I import reviews from one store into another?

No. Reviews can't be imported between stores. To show reviews from both stores on your site, use Review Syndication.

  1. Make sure both websites each have their own active REVIEWS.io account.

  2. Make sure at least one of the accounts is on the Start-up plan or higher.

  3. Contact support via Live Chat with the details of the two stores you want to syndicate.

  4. Make sure your SKUs match in both accounts.

Syndicated reviews work in the Product Review Widget, Rating Snippet and Carousel Widget only. The reviews are only visible in the dashboard of the account they were collected on.

Good to know: Review Syndication shares reviews in the widgets on your site. It doesn't merge Google Seller Ratings or Shopping Stars across domains, and each account must meet the Google Seller Ratings eligibility criteria on its own.

Merging two accounts

If you have multiple accounts or pages for the same company, you can ask support to merge them. Send the names or links of both accounts and say which one you want to keep as your main account. Merging accounts typically doesn't result in lost reviews, but confirm this with support before you go ahead.

Still not sure?

If your situation isn't covered here, start a Live Chat from your dashboard, describe the change you need, and the team will confirm the next steps.
