Getting Started - WooCommerce

Complete onboarding guide to setting up review collection and displaying reviews on your WooCommerce store

Written by Mollie Herbert

Here's everything you need to get REVIEWS.io fully working on your WooCommerce store — from connecting your account through to reviews actually appearing on your product pages.

What "done" looks like: by the end of this guide, your store will be automatically inviting customers to leave reviews once an order is completed, and star ratings will be visible on your product pages.

Before you start

✅ An active REVIEWS.io account
✅ Admin access to your WordPress/WooCommerce install

Step 1 — Complete your account details

Go to Account Details and fill in your business information correctly — this feeds into your public-facing profile and review syndication.

Full instructions: Edit profile information

Step 2 — Set your timezone

Go to Settings → Country Settings:

  1. Select the correct timezone for your business

  2. Click Save Timezone

This keeps invitation timing and reporting accurate to your local time — worth doing before invitations start going out at scale.

Step 3 — Connect WooCommerce to REVIEWS.io

  1. Download the REVIEWS.io plugin from WordPress.org, upload it to your WordPress install, and activate it

  2. In your REVIEWS.io dashboard, go to Integrations → WooCommerce and note your Region, Store ID and API Key under API Credentials

  3. In WordPress, go to Settings → Reviews.co.uk and enter those credentials, then save

Step 4 — Enable your product feed

  1. In WooCommerce, go to the Data Feeds tab and set Enable Product Feed to Yes

  2. Copy the feed link provided

  3. In REVIEWS.io, go to Collection → Product Catalogue → Setup Product Feed, paste the link, and set the format to XML

If you have extra data to include, add your own Data Attributes in WooCommerce — these will appear in your Product Catalogue automatically.

✔ How to check this worked: your product catalogue should begin populating in REVIEWS.io. This can take up to a few hours to fully complete — that's normal, not a fault.

Step 5 — Set up your review invitation email

Your invitation email is what actually asks customers for a review, so nothing gets collected until this is active.

📧 Company Review Request — best for Google Ads / Google Seller Ratings
📧 Product Review Request — best for Google Shopping and on-site product stars
📧 Combined Review Request — both, in a single email
📧 Third Party Request — any third-party site you've also integrated

Full setup instructions: Create a simple email invitation

⚠️ Easy to miss: the template must be switched to Active, or it will never send.

How invitations are triggered: by default, your WooCommerce trigger is Completed — an invitation queues once an order is marked completed in WooCommerce.

Want more control over timing or a fully branded sequence? Our Flow feature lets you build a custom invitation sequence instead of relying on the default template — optional, not required to get started.

Step 6 — Design your collector page

When a customer clicks Write a Review in their invitation email, this is the landing page they land on.

Go to Collection → Collector Page to:

Step 7 — Install your review widgets on-site

This is the step that's easy to miss but essential — without it, you'll be collecting reviews that nobody visiting your store can see.

Please note: Widgets will only show once a review has been collected.

In WordPress, go to Plugins → Installed Plugins, find Reviews.co.uk for WooCommerce, and select Settings. Under Review Publishing, you can enable:

Product Review Widget — choose to display within a tab, underneath the product summary, or at the bottom of the page
Rating Snippet — displays under the product title by default, or use the [rating_snippet] shortcode to place it elsewhere
Nuggets, Floating, UGC, Survey, Rating Bar & Carousel widgets — each has a toggle, or a shortcode if you'd rather place it manually

✔ How to check this worked: visit a product page on your live store — you should see the star widget or rating snippet displaying.

Using our older Legacy Widget? It's deprecated and will be removed in a future update — worth switching to the current widgets if you haven't already.

You're set up — what happens next

• Invitations queue as orders are marked completed — there's naturally a lag before your first review
• Reviews will appear on your collector page, and stars will show via your widgets on-site
• Also running a Rich Snippet? Enable it in the plugin settings so ratings can appear directly in Google search results
